AAIS Aerospace Safety Steering Committee (ASSC)

The AAIS Aerospace Safety Steering Committee (ASSC), a committee of the Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore), is an industry-driven committee and supported by key governmental agencies, aimed at developing a world-class workforce and environment to meet industry's safety needs through industry direction on areas including but not limited to human factors, worker safety welfare, safety systems and processes, security and safety training.

The ASSC will play a key advisory role in facilitating the constant advancement and improvement of Singapore’s aerospace safety, by providing industry feedback and endorsement where necessary.This could include assisting industry and educational institutions in developing and delivering relevant and required safety training curriculum for both existing and prospective employees in the Singapore aerospace industry in the area of safety knowledge and awareness, and working with relevant authorities and agencies to ensure the constant upgrading and relevancy of safety standards in the aerospace industry. It works in partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, the WSH Council, Singapore Workforce Development Agency, and Singapore-based Aerospace companies, and selected educational organizations.

Key Roles and Responsibilities of the ASSC include but are not limited to:

-Identifying minimum safety standards for all aerospace companies to consider as their basic level of safety

-Identifying required training and upgrading for aerospace industry employees to be constantly kept relevant and aware of new safety issues and guidelines 

- Strengthening the safety training in the pre-employment institutes of higher learning by forging alliances with the industry through training initiatives

- Developing appropriate seminars and initiatives at regular intervals to ensure the continuation of the safety mindset in the industry, with support from relevant government agencies.

- Promoting the safety culture among aerospace students and the existing aerospace workforce

-Supporting industry-relevant discussion in issues such as industry safety and security, human factors and safety education
