Embraer Lineage 1000 receives FAA Certification

Embraer has received the Type Certificaiton (TC) and the Supplemental Type Certificates(STC) from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its ultra-large Lineage 1000 executive jets. The aircaft was also awarded tpe certification by Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency - ANAC and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in December 2008.

The certification confirms the Lineage 1000's maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 54,500kg, and authorise the jet to operate under Extended Operation Rules (ETOPS 120). This clearance demonstrates the aircraft capability of flying routes that have a diversion airport up to 120 minutes from the flight path.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian manufacturer has announced that it delievered 59 jets to the commerical, executive as well as defence and government aviation segments during the last quarter of 2008, making a total of 204 jets delievered in 2008. The last quarter also saw the delievery of the first two Phenom 100 executive jets. By end December last year, the value of the firm order backlog came to US$20.9 billion.

On the market outlook for China, Embraer forcasts a toal demand of 875 new regional jets over the next 20 years, consisting of 120 for 30-60 seats, 295 for 61-90 seats and 460 for 91-120 seats.
